We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our thriving and expanding school community. The ideal candidate will provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across various age groups and abilities. A SEN Learning Support Assistant collaborates with SEN teaching staff to facilitate learning for students on the SEN register. LSAs ensure a safe environment for students and assist with daily administrative tasks as directed by the teacher and in accordance with school policy. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant training or experience in an educational setting with children.
  • Experience working with children with learning difficulties.
  • Proficient in English (native speaker or C2 level).
  • Ability to assess a child's response to learning activities and adjust the activities to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong active listening and verbal communication skills to build positive relationships and understand children's needs.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining quality.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
  • Basic IT skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement learning activities designed by the SEN teacher for groups of children in their classroom or during withdrawal sessions.
  • Build trusting relationships with children, interacting with them based on their unique needs and personalities.
  • Motivate children to engage and participate in activities.
  • Provide verbal feedback to children and SEN teachers regarding achievements, progress, and any challenges encountered.
  • Maintain an organized and supportive environment, performing administrative tasks as directed by the Inclusion team. These tasks may include preparing resources, creating displays, and updating documents.
  • Promote positive behavior by encouraging children to take responsibility for their actions in line with the school’s behavior policy and expectations.
  • Prepare resources needed for learning activities, assisting children with their use as guided by the teacher.
  • Adhere to all school policies, including those regarding safeguarding, child protection, and data protection.
  • Supervise or support SEN students before school, during breaks, after school, and on school trips as necessary.
  • Participate in required training sessions (e.g., safeguarding and health and safety training).
