About This Role

Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 3:00 pm-6:15 pm, Friday 3:00 pm-5:15 pm
Hours per week: 15 hours 30 minutes
Location: Wantage CE Primary School

We are looking for a warm, caring and enthusiastic individual with a relevant Level 3 qualification to join our after-school wraparound care provision at Wantage CE Primary School.

Working alongside the Extended Provision Supervisor and our supportive team, the successful candidate will help create a welcoming, enjoyable, and nurturing environment where children can relax, play, and take part in a range of engaging activities at the end of the school day.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Safeguarding children throughout the after-school period and following the school’s safeguarding procedures;
  • Supporting the Extended Provision Supervisor with the day-to-day running of the provision;
  • Planning, preparing and delivering a varied range of age-appropriate play and recreational activities;
  • Engaging positively with children and supporting their social, emotional and physical development through play;
  • Supervising children and always maintaining their safety;
  • Promoting positive behaviour in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy;
  • Assisting with accurate registers and ensuring that children are safely collected by authorised adults;
  • Preparing and serving meals and snacks while following food hygiene and allergy procedures;
  • Setting up, tidying and safely storing activities, equipment and resources;
  • Communicating professionally with children, parents, carers and colleagues;
  • Reporting accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns or changes in a child’s wellbeing to the Extended Provision Supervisor;
  • Following all school safeguarding, health and safety and confidentiality policies.

You should:

  • Hold a relevant Level 3 childcare, playwork or early-years qualification;
  • Have experience of working with or caring for children;
  • Be able to build strong and appropriate relationships with children;
  • Have a good understanding of children’s development and the importance of play;
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team;
  • Be dependable, organised and able to use your initiative;
  • Have effective communication skills;
  • Be able to create a safe, positive and inclusive environment;
  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities;
  • Be able to support positive behaviour in line with the school’s guidelines;
  • Demonstrate good food hygiene practices and follow the school’s health and safety policies;
  • Be able to respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations.

A paediatric first-aid certificate and food hygiene training would be desirable, although appropriate training may be provided.

You will join a friendly and supportive staff team at Wantage CE Primary School and play an important role in providing high-quality care for our children at the end of the school day.

Compensation

£26,016.00 - £26,427.00 Annually (FTE) Grade 4, SCP 4 - 5. 15.5 hours per week, Term time only. Actual - £9,138.05 - £9,282.42
