Food Technician

The Priory Ruskin Academy is looking for a well organised and motivated individual to support the Food Technology department. The successful candidate will look to ensure that: food is ordered in a timely and cost-effective way, that ingredients are available at desired times, help prepare ingredients, manage stock levels, ensure that equipment is regularly cleaned and maintained.

The successful applicant should hold a basic food hygiene certificate. The post holder should have an understanding of health and safety in the kitchen, as well as have knowledge of COSHH and manual handling. There will be times when the successful applicant will also support the Food Technology teacher in the running of practical lessons.

The role will be 15 hours per week, with several potential variations on how those hours can be spread across the week and this would be discussed fully at interview. Options may include 3 hours solid per day or split shifts in the morning and the afternoon. These patterns would not necessarily have to be the same every day of the week.
