Position Summary
In this position, reporting to the Director of Technology and Innovation, the Technology Integration and Technical Operations Manager will lead the Technical Operations team and collaborate closely with specialist leads to manage the development, maintenance, and execution of school systems. This role will implement strategic priorities and assist in formulating an information technology plan that addresses the changing needs of a vibrant 21st-century educational ecosystem and operational framework. The Manager will serve as a proactive change leader, guiding the Technical Operations team and working with educators to improve the integration of technology in teaching practices. This position includes executing the York House technology plan across the school community.

Responsibilities
- Direct, mentor, and support the Technical Operations team, which consists of the Technology & Audio Video Specialist and two Junior Analysts, cultivating a collaborative culture focused on service and professional growth.
- Act as a key member of the department’s leadership team, collaborating with colleagues in infrastructure and data analytics to ensure that all technical operations align effectively with strategic goals.
- Work with the Education Technology Coordinator and tech team to implement the technology plan (developed by the Director of Technology and Innovation) with all stakeholders, ensuring high standards of support, operational efficiency, and digital literacy.
- Collaborate with faculty and the Director of Technology and Innovation to explore and facilitate the pedagogical integration of new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and Virtual/Augmented Reality.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with educational technology organizations, vendors, and peer institutions to promote professional development opportunities and innovative program initiatives.
- Continuously evaluate emerging K–12 educational technology trends, instructional methods, and research to inform best practices.
- Assess the technology proficiency levels of staff and students, recommending tailored training programs as necessary.
- Create and provide learning resources for faculty and students, including tutorials, manuals, websites, and other interactive materials.
- Organize and conduct professional development training sessions focused on technology.
- Collaborate with database administrators across departments to ensure the integrity of the school’s information management.
- Assist stakeholders using Blackbaud school operations software (covering report cards, transcripts, parent/teacher interviews, admissions, and scheduling).
- Work alongside the department's data analytics lead to ensure data middleware and integrations meet the school's operational and reporting needs.
- Research and implement automation workflows (e.g., utilizing tools like n8n) to improve the efficiency and reliability of departmental and school-wide processes.
- Maintain auditing systems to enhance visibility and accountability.
- Lead the Daily Operational Stand-up and participate in the Weekly Tactical & Project Review to ensure the team’s efforts align with departmental priorities.
- Represent technical interests in the Quarterly Pedagogical Integration Meeting and the Quarterly Data Governance Group, providing operational context and ensuring user needs are addressed.
- Oversee the upgrading, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT software systems that manage sensitive data for students, parents, donors, and employees, in close collaboration with the department’s infrastructure lead.
- Communicate with the broader community about technology literacy, adhering to the YHS Technology plan with collaborative input.
- Work with the Director of Technology and Innovation to review and advise on technology policies for staff and students, ensuring compliance with relevant acceptable use guidelines.
- Engage in the budgeting process for academic and administrative software, hardware, and services.
- Manage the operations of the theatre and other specialized facilities, developing systems, policies, procedures, and training for their effective operation.
- Attend ISABC Director of Technology meetings on behalf of the Director as necessary.
- Supervise student groups, including the student theatre/technology club.
- Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications
- At least four years of relevant work experience.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills.
- Knowledge of teaching methods, coaching techniques, and curriculum design.
- Ability to stay current and research new instructional technologies.
- Proficiency in modern computer software, including student information and learning management systems (preferably Blackbaud), Google Workspace, Raiser’s Edge, digital video editing, image processing, internet streaming, and Mac environments.
- Familiarity with contemporary infrastructure concepts, including Linux systems, containerization, and private cloud platforms, to effectively manage projects with specialist team members.
- Experience with various classroom, theatre, and end-user hardware and software platforms and technology tools.
- Prior experience in leadership roles, overseeing technology teams of up to 5.
- Background in an independent school setting is advantageous.
- Understanding or experience with the pedagogical integration of AI in K-12 education is beneficial.
- Experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes) is a significant asset.
- Familiarity with private cloud platforms (e.g., OpenStack) and automation tools (e.g., n8n) is a plus.
- Experience integrating VR/AR technologies in educational contexts is advantageous.
- Experience in software project management and installations is a plus.
- Experience with K-12 aged students is beneficial.
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science or a related field is highly preferred.
