PE Teacher + Special Education (Secondary)
About This Role
Awsaj Academy is a specialized institution currently catering to over 700 students from Pre-3 to Grade 12 with a variety of learning needs and challenges. The majority of our students have mild to moderate learning difficulties, while some are identified with specific medical diagnoses that lead to more complex learning obstacles. As the only school of its type in Qatar, Awsaj Academy is recognized as a leader in the region for educating students with disabilities.
The Academy offers high-quality academic, social, emotional, and evidence-based programs through a responsive curriculum designed to meet the unique needs and abilities of each student. Our multi-tiered support systems ensure that students receive essential behavioral, therapeutic, and academic interventions to assist them in achieving success in further studies, higher education, employment, and community engagement.
Awsaj Academy is accredited by international organizations and provides a High School diploma aligned with American Standards. For students who may not follow the diploma pathway, we have a dedicated special needs pathway available.
Instruction at Awsaj Academy is primarily in English, except for Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Qatar History, which are taught in Arabic. Over 98% of our students are Qatari and English Language Learners. Our classes are mixed-gender, promoting dual-language strategies.
Located within the vibrant and innovative Education City of Qatar Foundation, Awsaj Academy features outstanding teaching and learning facilities.
Our students exhibit a broad spectrum of learning challenges, necessitating a flexible, dynamic, and responsive educational environment. Classrooms maintain a teacher-student ratio of approximately 1:10, supplemented by specialized resource bases such as Empower and Nurture, supported by teachers, instructional assistants, and interventionists.
A strong multidisciplinary team, including therapists, psychologists, and specialists, supports our holistic educational approach. Additional personnel includes education counselors, a school nurse, and behavior specialists. Our dedicated Arabic and Islamic Studies team assists students across the entire learning spectrum.
At the heart of Awsaj Academy lies the belief that every child matters and belongs. We are committed to never giving up on a student, respecting and addressing the challenges they encounter throughout their educational journey.
