Scope of Duties

Every member of the GUIS team is responsible for cultivating a safe and developmentally suitable environment that aligns with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the GUIS program. The teacher is instrumental in delivering high-quality lessons while fostering both academic and personal development among students. In accordance with the school's vision and values, the educator is tasked with creating a supportive, engaging, and inclusive atmosphere that inspires student success, intellectual curiosity, and a love of learning.

Primary Responsibilities:

Safeguarding and Welfare:

  • Promote the safety and well-being of all members of the school community while encouraging positive behavior.
  • Strictly follow GUIS safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.

Teaching Responsibilities

In line with the teaching standards for the A Level division, teachers are expected to:

  • Develop and deliver engaging, well-organized lessons.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate the varied strengths and needs of all students.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and document student progress, using data-driven instructional methods to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment to support the progress of all students.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the school's curriculum and teaching plans.
  • Acknowledge the significance of enhancing literacy and oracy across all subjects.

Whole-School Participation:

  • Collaborate in the development, implementation, and assessment of school policies and practices to support the institution’s vision and values, especially concerning students’ social and emotional well-being.
  • Be involved in the broader school community, including extracurricular activities and events.
  • Participate in up to six marketing events each academic year as required.
  • Provide coverage for colleagues as needed.

Specific Division Responsibilities

  • Teaching Load: Up to 18 lessons per week (60 minutes each).
  • Co-Curricular Activities (CCA): All educators are expected to lead two sessions weekly (unpaid). Those with stipend roles are required to lead one session weekly (unpaid).
  • Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 15:55 to 16:40.
  • Homeroom Duties: All teachers should be ready to assume the HRS (unpaid) role as necessary.
  • Marketing & Admissions Days: Up to six unpaid days to assist with marketing events as required.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, Experience, and Attributes:

  • An internationally recognized teaching qualification.
  • Proficiency in the language of instruction.
  • In-depth knowledge of the subject matter and curriculum in the relevant specialty areas.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, structured lessons tailored to student needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills to maintain a positive, safe, and effective learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building collaborative relationships with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and improving teaching practice.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of the school and its students.
  • Alignment with the school’s vision, values, and commitment to international education.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
