Durham School for Girls, Doha, provides a British Curriculum education to a vibrant community of 1,220 mostly Qatari girls. Our dedication to cultivating girls who graduate with 'Confidence for Life' is evident in our inclusive environment that empowers every student to reach her full potential.

We are seeking an exceptional Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our team. The SENCO will play a vital role in improving the educational experiences of our students by ensuring personalized support for each learner, helping them excel both academically and personally.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate cultural awareness in all support areas, understanding and addressing the unique needs of our primarily Qatari student population. The SENCO should be ready to assist students who may not have an official SEN diagnosis but require additional support due to language barriers or other challenges.

Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of SEN provisions, strong leadership skills, and expertise in developing and managing in-class support strategies to promote achievement for all students. Furthermore, the SENCO will oversee the strategic enhancement of the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision and the daily implementation of policies aimed at improving the performance of SEN students. A SENCO qualification is preferred for this role.

- Design and deliver engaging lessons that comply with curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning needs.
- Plan and implement curriculum content that aligns with DSGD/MARK values, Qatari culture, and MOE ethics.
- Utilize assessments effectively to monitor student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that promotes respect and collaboration.
- Maintain regular, professional communication with students, parents, and colleagues to support learning.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and relevant stakeholders regarding academic performance.
- Support students' wellbeing by fostering personal growth, resilience, and positive relationships.
- Actively participate in professional development to continuously enhance teaching practices.
- Embody the school’s MARK values in all interactions and represent DSGD positively.
- Use school communication platforms effectively to disseminate information, resources, and updates.
- Engage in school events, extracurricular activities, and community-building initiatives.
- Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare policies to ensure student protection.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
- Ensure all teaching resources, planning, and curriculum content reflect Qatari national values and MOE ethics.
