Responsibilities:
- Foster a learning environment that promotes outstanding educational practices
- Establish clear teaching and learning goals
- Design engaging tasks that challenge students and maintain high levels of interest
- Set appropriate and ambitious expectations
- Establish clear targets that build on prior achievements
- Identify students with special educational needs or exceptional abilities and ensure their requirements are met through tailored instruction
- Provide structured lessons that sustain pace, motivation, and challenge
- Utilize assessment effectively to enhance learning
- Leverage performance data and key indicators to inform lesson planning and deliver differentiated instruction
- Uphold discipline according to the school’s ‘Behaviour for Learning Policy’ and promote good practices regarding punctuality, behavior, work standards, and homework
- Employ diverse teaching strategies to:
- Align methods with content, organize information, present key ideas, and utilize relevant vocabulary
- Engage in effective questioning, actively listen to students, and address errors and misconceptions
- Select appropriate learning resources and enhance study skills through the library, I.C.T., and other educational technologies
- Evaluate the achievement of learning objectives and use insights to refine teaching practices
- Grade student work at least bi-weekly and set progress targets
- Use performance data to inform planning, ensuring that learning and teaching continue to ‘add value’
- Systematically assess and record students' progress, maintaining records to track understanding and completion, monitor strengths and areas for growth, inform planning, and recognize achievement levels
- Assess students as required by examination bodies, departmental, and school protocols
- Prepare and deliver informative reports to parents
- Participate in subject development by creating, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work
- Stay current in subject knowledge through CPD and professional reading
- Attend relevant professional development workshops
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Vice Principal.
You must be a fully qualified teacher with:
- A passion for education and a caring approach
- A Bachelor in Education or a related degree with a PGCE or other teaching qualification, alongside a minimum of 2 years' teaching experience in the relevant field
- Familiarity with the American curriculum
- Commitment to a comprehensive enrichment program
- Recent and consistent participation in extracurricular activities
- Respect for all members of the school community
- Experience with students for whom English is an additional language
- A proactive and solution-oriented attitude towards work
- A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check
