About This Role

Location: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Qingdao, Tongxiang, Yantai, Hong Kong.

Duties:
A. Knowledge and Understanding:
- Have a thorough comprehension of the Sciences curriculum as specified in the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB.
- Maintain a strong command of the subject matter in Sciences.
- Address subject-related questions from students effectively and be aware of common misconceptions and errors in the field.
- Be familiar with guidelines pertaining to secondary school curricula and assessments.

B. Planning and Setting Expectations:
- Create clear teaching objectives, content, and structured lesson plans that meet subject requirements and cater to student needs.
- Set high yet attainable expectations that motivate student learning, establishing specific targets based on previous achievements and experiences.
- Identify students with special educational needs or those who are gifted and talented, knowing how to access support for targeted assistance. Implement and document Individual Education Plans (IEPs) when applicable.

C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:
- Provide effective instruction to full classes, small groups, and individual students, ensuring that teaching goals are met while maintaining an appropriate pace and challenge.
- Use engaging teaching strategies that spark intellectual curiosity, encourage effective questioning, and make efficient use of resources.
- Uphold high standards for student behavior, promoting discipline through focused teaching and positive relationships.
- Encourage positive behavioral patterns, enhance self-esteem, and foster independent work in students to support their educational journey within an ICT framework.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess student achievement concerning learning objectives and use this evaluation to guide future teaching strategies.
- Grade and oversee students' assignments and homework, providing constructive feedback and setting goals for their improvement.
- Be aware of the expectations for students regarding the National Curriculum, KS4, and KS5 when applicable.

E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:
- Be capable of preparing and delivering comprehensive reports to parents.
- Recognize that learning extends beyond the classroom and provide opportunities for students to connect their studies to real-world applications.
- Understand the importance of collaborating with external agencies.

F. Managing Own Performance and Development:
- Recognize the importance of taking responsibility for personal professional development and staying up-to-date with pedagogical research and subject advancements.
- Understand professional responsibilities regarding school policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Serve as a role model for students in terms of appearance and conduct.
- Critically evaluate one’s own teaching methods to improve effectiveness.

G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:
- Cultivate productive working relationships with colleagues, including co-teachers, specialists, and support staff.

H. Managing Resources:
- Select and effectively utilize books, technology, and other educational resources to achieve teaching objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a valid teaching certificate or license with strong subject expertise.
- A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a school setting.

- Show a rigorous approach to teaching across various year levels.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
