Applicants must demonstrate in their application or interview:
• At least 2 years of full-time teaching experience, either in the UK or in a British Curriculum school.
• A comprehensive understanding of the National Curriculum for England and contemporary assessment practices.
• Proficiency with data systems, student tracking, interventions, target setting, assessment, recording, and reporting.
• A strong commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
• A dedication to building strong partnerships with parents to enhance student success.
• A readiness to engage in whole school initiatives and contribute to the school’s improvement process.

The Head of Subject is primarily responsible for delivering strong academic leadership. This position involves leading, managing, and developing the department to achieve the highest standards of excellence in all its pursuits. Heads of Subject should exemplify leadership and vision while empowering others to implement the agreed departmental strategy within the school.
Academic Leadership
• Design, implement, and oversee the Subject Curriculum and Schemes of Work throughout the Secondary school in accordance with the English National Curriculum.
• Create, collect, and analyze relevant assessments across all Year groups, using this data to improve teaching, learning, and student achievement.
• Ensure that high-quality reports are provided to parents in line with whole school expectations.
• Select appropriate external examination courses.
• Oversee the performance of all departmental staff and communicate with the Head of Secondary regarding training needs, instances of excellence, and areas requiring attention.
• Cultivate a culture of excellence, collaboration, and respect within the department and beyond.
• Coordinate staff timetables with Senior Staff to optimize staffing resources and explore collaborative opportunities with others outside the department.
• Suggest appropriate plans, recommendations, and proposals to the Head of Secondary for departmental enhancement; innovate and develop new programs to attract new students and promote the department.
• Provide training for teachers and be available for pastoral care.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for both staff and students, fully complying with health and safety regulations.
• Conduct lesson observations within the department, offer coaching and mentoring for staff, and provide feedback on observations; adhere to both internal and external quality assurance and risk management procedures.
Resource Management
• Ensure the department operates within its designated budget.
• Be accountable for departmental stock, its effective use, and maintenance.
General
• Teach a schedule aligned with the school curriculum's requirements.
• Offer a relevant extracurricular program through the department.
• Ensure the health and safety of all staff and students during departmental lessons.
• Carry out additional tasks and duties as reasonably directed by the Head of Secondary or the Principal.
Health and Safety
• Take all necessary precautions to safeguard students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in enforcing all policies and regulations governing student life and behavior.
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety rules and procedures.
• Maintain awareness of all health and safety measures necessary while at school.
