About This Role

Crescendo HELP International School is looking for outstanding candidates to fill the role of Primary Assistant Principal. We are in search of a proactive and energetic leader who is dedicated to becoming a vital part of our team.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide leadership, development, and management of exemplary pastoral and academic support within the Primary School, while also identifying students who may require additional assistance. This role will require collaboration with the inclusion team and EAL Teams in the Primary School.

  • Collaborate with the School’s Counsellor teams and maintain communication with the Secondary School Pastoral Team during student transitions.
  • Enhance student achievement and elevate the quality of teaching and learning throughout the School.
  • Work closely with Curriculum Leadership Teams, Heads of Year, Mile Post Coordinators, and individual teachers to ensure that teaching methods positively impact learning and that students reach their full potential.
  • Partner with the Head of Primary to engage teaching staff in professional development, working alongside the Whole School Deputy Principal for Professional Learning.
  • Contribute to the overall well-being and education of all students under the School’s care while actively participating in the leadership, development, and maintenance of the school’s mission and vision.

General

The Assistant Principal is expected to:

  • Oversee the learning and well-being of all students while fostering their enthusiasm for learning.
  • Exemplify and promote the mission, vision, guiding principles, and core competencies of the School.
  • Contribute to ongoing school improvement aligned with our Strategic Objectives.
  • Manage the Staff Review and Development process.
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluations, encouraging a collaborative learning environment.
  • Foster a culture of high expectations for oneself and others.
  • Fulfill specific responsibility portfolios.
  • Lead initiatives to share best practices.
  • Lead with humility, cultivate teams, and provide support and mentoring to colleagues.
  • Maintain a visible and active presence within the School community.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Principal will support the existing leadership framework and will be responsible for a variety of tasks including curriculum development, assessment to inform progress and outcomes, pastoral care, quality assurance, and various leadership and management roles across Mile Post and Year groups, in addition to addressing specific areas from the strategic plan that reflect school priorities.

1. Leadership

In relation to care, guidance, and support, the Assistant Principal is expected to:

  • Oversee the establishment and execution of care guidance and support programs.
  • Ensure effective care is provided for all students, including management of uniform, serious disciplinary matters, learning support, and attendance record-keeping.
  • Offer support to staff dealing with student-related issues in the primary school.
  • Conduct interviews with parents and students concerning pastoral issues, when necessary.
  • Provide timely and effective communication to staff, students, and parents regarding student management and well-being.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution among staff, students, and/or parents.

2. Teaching & Learning

  • Ensure all teaching staff are knowledgeable about contemporary evidence-based teaching strategies and lead their development in priority areas.
  • Collaborate closely with the Whole School Deputy Principal to ensure continuity and progression within the School’s scope and sequence documents.
  • Lead key teaching and learning initiatives across the School, including Inclusive Education, Literacy, Numeracy, and promote technological innovation with the Whole School Deputy.
  • Analyze student outcomes (academic, engagement, and well-being) to identify school-wide priorities for teaching and learning.
  • Build strong working relationships with each stakeholder.
