About the Position

At ISL, we regard learning as a profoundly human endeavor. We are dedicated to fostering environments where students feel recognized, inspired, and motivated to take control of their educational journey. We are currently seeking a committed and reflective French Language A Teacher for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to join our vibrant learning community in Luxembourg.

In the position of French Language A Teacher, you will guide students towards a deep understanding of language, literature, and identity within the IB MYP and DP frameworks. You will design meaningful, inquiry-based experiences that equip older students for the independence and challenges of the Diploma Programme.

Our educational philosophy is rooted in curiosity, inquiry, and hands-on experimentation. We are looking for a teacher who views education as relational, creative, and purposeful.

Responsibilities

As our French Language A Teacher, your key responsibilities will include:

● Designing and delivering engaging, inquiry-driven learning experiences in French Language A for MYP and DP students

● Collaborating with colleagues to create interdisciplinary, concept-based, and innovative learning opportunities

● Instructing and guiding students in developing advanced literacy, critical thinking, and literary analysis skills

● Preparing students for IB assessments, including both internal and external evaluations for MYP and DP (oral and written)

● Establishing inclusive, differentiated learning environments that support diverse learners

● Encouraging learner agency, voice, and ownership of their educational journey

● Utilizing assessment and feedback strategically to guide learner progress and development

● Building strong, respectful relationships with students to enhance their wellbeing and sense of belonging

● Actively contributing to a reflective and collaborative professional culture

● Using a Learning Management System to organize course materials, facilitate collaboration, and engage students

● Participating in the wellbeing and pastoral life of the school, including serving as a student advisor

● Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every learner feels valued and supported

● Involving yourself in the dynamic life of the school—participating in parent evenings, community events, and leading extracurricular activities

● Pursuing personal professional development and bringing innovative ideas into the classroom

● Effectively integrating AI into instruction through a human-centered approach, promoting ethical practices, and equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding to responsibly utilize AI in their education

We are eager to attract candidates from a variety of backgrounds, particularly those whose nationality, identity, gender, or race is underrepresented in international education.

We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, and we expect all staff members to share this commitment.

Profile: (qualifications, experience, skills, and attributes necessary for the role)

● Proven success in teaching French Language A within the IB programme (or as a first language)

● Capability to provide inclusive, differentiated learning experiences for a range of learners

● Experience in promoting student agency, voice, and ownership of learning

● Proficiency in using assessment and feedback effectively to support student progress

● Strong collaborative skills and a commitment to contributing to a reflective, innovative learning culture

● Passion for inquiry-based, concept-driven, and project-based learning

● Confidence in integrating technology into the classroom for enhanced learning

● Demonstrated AI Literacy skills: understanding AI principles, exploring its applications, guiding effective AI use, evaluating AI outputs, and using AI responsibly

● Strong commitment to student wellbeing and holistic development

● At least two years of successful teaching experience, preferably within the IB MYP framework

● Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in French Language and Literature or a related field (Master's preferred)
