About This Role

The ideal candidate will have: A valid Manitoba Teacher's Certificate or the eligibility to obtain certification in Manitoba. The ability to assist administrators, educators, and other team members within the division in the development and execution of programs that reflect northern Indigenous perspectives and the Cree language. The expertise to provide leadership and conduct training that highlights Indigenous worldviews and cultural understanding from a northern viewpoint. The competence to organize and implement district-wide initiatives and events that present valuable chances to engage with northern and Indigenous cultures while promoting cross-cultural appreciation and connections. The capacity to work alongside teachers to enhance their ability to weave Indigenous perspectives into classroom instruction and learning, as well as to advocate for culturally adept practices. The skill to lead professional development opportunities for educators, administrators, and district staff on themes concerning northern Indigenous education, Indigenous worldviews, and cultural proficiency. The ability to foster relationships with Elders, traditional figures, and the community to connect community resources with educational institutions. The capability to maintain collaborative partnerships with Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Development and other pertinent community organizations as necessary. The skill to gather, analyze, and present data to inform decision-making based on research and resource allocation. The ability to excel in a collaborative environment, including in classrooms. Proficiency in speaking Cree is also required.
