About This Role

We are looking for a Head of Secondary to join our team in August 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and promote the ethos and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS and school Core Values.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Secondary School's provision as it evolves.
  • Ensure that students in the Secondary School receive high-quality care and support.
  • Maintain high academic standards in the Secondary School, aligning with the school’s aspiration for students to achieve their utmost potential, as well as adhering to UAE National Agenda targets.
  • Manage budgets and perform teaching and other professional responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the Principal.

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess:

  • Extensive experience in leading and managing the GCSE and A Levels process.
  • A track record as an effective and dynamic leader, demonstrated through measurable school improvement data.
  • A strong commitment to promoting excellence and fostering a culture of high standards of care and opportunities for all students.
  • Proven success in leading and managing staff, including the ability to promote and develop innovative learning approaches.
  • Experience in enhancing teachers’ skills and competencies through a consistent school improvement strategy.
  • A thorough and confident understanding of best practice pedagogy for secondary education.
  • A desire to be innovative and creative in the educational offerings for all learners to ensure their success.
  • Proficiency in utilizing data to devise clear strategies aimed at achieving outstanding progress and attainment within the Secondary School.
  • A commitment to inclusion.
  • A genuine passion for the broader co-curricular life of a school.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant field along with a teaching qualification.
  • Prior experience in a senior leadership position.
  • NPQH or other relevant senior leadership qualifications (desirable).

GEMS Education is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and staff. A UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check is mandatory for all appointments.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
