About This Role

Forest View High School is seeking a highly experienced and strategic senior leader to join our team as Deputy Principal – Operations.


This is a significant senior leadership opportunity suited to an experienced leader who has successfully managed complex operational portfolios within a secondary school environment and is ready to contribute at a whole-school strategic level.


The Role


The Deputy Principal – Operations is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and plays a central role in ensuring the stability, compliance, and effective performance of the school.
The successful applicant will oversee and strengthen:



  • Whole-school timetabling and staffing structures.

  • Daily operational systems and organisational processes.

  • Health and Safety compliance and risk management.

  • Policy implementation and legislative requirements.

  • Systems that support attendance, engagement, and achievement.


Working closely with the Principal, this role ensures that strong systems underpin high-quality teaching and learning.
The position requires decisiveness, clarity, and the ability to manage complexity while maintaining relational integrity.


Key Responsibilities


We are looking for a leader who:



  • Has substantial senior management experience in a secondary school (AP, DP, or equivalent).

  • Has led whole-school operational improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrates advanced organisational and systems-thinking capability.

  • Understands the regulatory, staffing, and structural demands of secondary education.

  • Makes sound, timely decisions and leads with fairness and accountability.

  • Is culturally responsive and committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • Maintains high expectations while protecting the mana of others.


Experience with KAMAR, secondary timetabling, compliance frameworks, and operational budgeting is essential.
