Role Purpose
The Teacher of Business and Economics is tasked with providing exceptional instruction across Key Stages Three, Four, and, when necessary, Key Stage Five.
This role emphasizes the importance of building robust subject knowledge, fostering analytical skills, and encouraging real-world applications, enabling students to achieve excellent outcomes and be well-equipped for future studies and career paths. Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
• Deliver engaging, structured lessons in Business and Economics that facilitate strong progress for all students.
• Design lessons that are sequential, rich in knowledge, and aligned with curriculum and examination standards.
• Aim high in teaching, ensuring that advanced learners are challenged while providing suitable support to others.
• Effectively utilize assessment to guide lesson planning and adapt teaching methods in real time.
• Model and enforce the precise use of subject-specific terminology.
• Encourage critical thinking, evaluation, and the application of concepts to real-world business and economic scenarios.
Curriculum and Assessment
• Participate in the development and evaluation of the Business and Economics curriculum.
• Ensure that schemes of work meet examination criteria and promote knowledge and skill progression.
• Assign meaningful homework that aids in retrieval, solidifies learning, and prepares students for exams.
• Thoroughly prepare students for internal assessments, mock exams, and external evaluations.
• Analyze assessment data and assist in the department's quality assurance and intervention strategies.
Classroom Culture and Conduct
• Create a calm and purposeful learning atmosphere with high standards for behavior and engagement.
• Implement behavior management systems consistently and professionally.

Person Specification
Essential
• A recognized teaching qualification.
• A degree or strong subject expertise in Business, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience teaching Business and/or Economics at the GCSE or IGCSE level.
• Solid subject knowledge and understanding of examination requirements.
• High expectations for student achievement and behavior.
• Proficiency in using assessment and data to inform instruction.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable
• Experience teaching A Level or equivalent post-16 courses.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Education: Relevant teaching qualification, minimum of a B.Ed. or BA/BSc + PGCE/QTS
Experience: Two years of teaching experience in a British school, either internationally or within the UK.
