About This Role

Crescendo HELP International School is looking for outstanding candidates for the role of Primary Assistant Principal. We are in search of an enthusiastic and proactive leader who is dedicated to becoming a vital part of our team.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead, develop, and manage exemplary pastoral and academic care in the Primary School, while identifying students who may require additional support. This role also includes collaborating with the inclusion team and EAL teams within the Primary School.

  • Work alongside the School’s Counsellor teams and coordinate with the Secondary School Pastoral Team to support students as they transition to the next stage of their education.
  • Enhance student achievement and elevate the quality of teaching and learning throughout the School.
  • Collaborate closely with Curriculum Leadership Teams, Heads of Year, Mile Post Coordinators, and individual teachers to ensure that teaching strategies positively influence learning, enabling students to reach their full potential.
  • Partner with the Head of Primary to engage teaching staff in ongoing professional development, working alongside the Whole School Deputy Principal for Professional Learning.
  • Contribute to the overall well-being and education of all students under the School's care, while actively participating in leading, developing, and maintaining the school’s mission and vision.

General

The Assistant Principal is expected to:

  • Supervise the learning and well-being of all students and foster a passion for learning.
  • Exemplify and advocate for the mission, vision, guiding principles, and core competencies of the school.
  • Support ongoing school improvement aligned with our Strategic Aims.
  • Manage the Staff Review and Development process.
  • Monitor and evaluate to encourage a collaborative learning environment.
  • Cultivate a culture of high expectations for yourself and others.
  • Fulfill specific portfolio responsibilities.
  • Lead and facilitate the sharing of best practices.
  • Lead with humility, nurture teams, and offer support and mentorship to others.
  • Maintain an active and visible presence within the School community.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Principal will enhance and support the current leadership framework, encompassing a range of responsibilities, including curriculum development, assessment for progress and outcomes, pastoral care, quality assurance, and various leadership roles across Mile Post and Year groups, in addition to specific areas from the strategic plan that reflect the school's priorities.

1. Leadership

In terms of care, guidance, and support, the Assistant Principal is expected to:

  • Oversee the development and execution of care, guidance, and support programs.
  • Ensure that effective care is provided for all students, including managing uniform compliance, serious disciplinary issues, learning support provisions, and maintaining attendance and communication records.
  • Assist staff in managing issues related to students in the primary school.
  • Conduct interviews with parents and students regarding pastoral concerns as needed.
  • Communicate promptly and effectively with staff, students, and parents about matters related to student management and well-being.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution among staff, students, and/or parents.

2. Teaching & Learning

  • Ensure that all teaching staff are aware of contemporary evidence-based teaching methods and lead their professional development in prioritized areas.
  • Collaborate closely with the Whole School Deputy Principal to guarantee continuity and progression across the School’s curriculum scope and sequence documents.
  • Direct key areas of teaching and learning across the School, including Inclusive Education, Literacy, and Numeracy, while working with the Whole School Deputy to promote innovative technology use.
  • Analyze student outcomes (academic, engagement, and well-being) to identify school-wide priorities related to teaching and learning.
