About this role
This role is centered on the wellbeing of secondary students, combining university and career guidance with counselling, program leadership, and teaching responsibilities. The counsellor will work closely with students, staff, and families to provide effective pastoral care and support successful pathways to post-secondary education.

Key responsibilities

Deliver individual and small-group counselling to enhance student wellbeing


Create and execute a comprehensive whole-school social-emotional learning (SEL) program, including workshops focused on resilience, mental health, and interpersonal relationships.


Offer structured guidance on College & Careers, including comprehensive support for university applications (e.g., UCAS, Common App)


Organize university visits, career fairs, and student workshops


Manage the school’s university pathways and support international admissions processes


Leverage student data to inform interventions and improve safeguarding and wellbeing initiatives


Collaborate with staff, parents, and external organizations


Assist in crisis response and adhere to safeguarding protocols


Teach 5 periods per week of Values / College & Careers (Years 9–12)

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with certification in School Counselling


Proven experience in advising students on college/university applications


Outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities


Commitment to student wellbeing and a cooperative approach with students, parents, and staff


Familiarity with UCAS and knowledge of international admissions systems (UK, US, Canada, Europe) is advantageous
