View Full School Profile & Vacancies

The School

With nearly 40 years of service to the international community in Cologne, St. George’s School offers a comprehensive curriculum in a supportive environment. What began as a small institution has grown into a thriving community of approximately 800 students, aged 2-18, representing over 50 nationalities.

We deliver the National Curriculum throughout our school and offer the IB Diploma program for our Sixth Form students.

As part of a network of three schools in Germany, St. George’s provides the successful candidate with numerous opportunities for professional growth and career advancement within the educational system.

The Location

Located in a newly developed campus on the outskirts of Cologne, St. George’s School enjoys excellent transport links to the city center and the wider Cologne-Bonn region.

Cologne, the fourth largest city in Germany, is a vibrant cultural center with a diverse international community. Its central European location offers a high standard of living with many opportunities for travel and cultural experiences.

The school is conveniently situated just 20 km from Cologne-Bonn Airport, which features frequent flights to the UK. Additionally, a high-speed train service connects Cologne to London via Brussels.

The Role

We are excited to welcome a qualified English Teacher to our Secondary teaching team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an innovative and proactive educator to build on the solid foundation laid by their predecessor.

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated teacher with experience in guiding students to achieve their full potential. We seek a combination of experience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching that will inspire our students.

As our school continues to evolve, adaptability and a supportive attitude toward fellow staff members are essential qualities. A strong commitment to enhancing the dynamic pastoral and extracurricular activities of the school will also be beneficial.

English teachers will collaborate across the entire secondary department, playing a pivotal role in tracking student progress. They will maintain careful oversight of students' development and ensure regular communication with parents.

In Middle School, students pursue a thorough English curriculum that covers the full range of skills and knowledge outlined in the National Curriculum. In Upper School, students prepare for IGCSE qualifications in English Language and English Literature. English is a popular first language choice within the IB Diploma, where we offer both ‘Literature’ and ‘Language and Literature’ as well as 'English B' courses tailored to students' interests and requirements.

A solid understanding of the British education system is necessary, and experience teaching the IB Diploma is highly desirable.
