About This Role

POSITION: Qualified Special Education Teachers
DEPARTMENT: School Operations
SALARY: From $52,799 to $102,857 based on experience and qualifications

STATUS: Full-time regular and replacement

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board that provides educational services across the 14 communities of Nunavik. We are in search of committed special education teachers who are eager to work with primary and secondary students facing diverse learning challenges.

FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
· Conduct assessments to identify students’ learning strengths and difficulties.
· Create individualized education plans (IEPs) that reflect assessment outcomes and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
· Participate in the local special education committee.
· Develop and deliver a differentiated instruction program tailored to meet students’ unique needs.
· Utilize a range of teaching methods and resources to enhance the educational experience for students.
· Collaborate closely with parents, tutors, and fellow educators to ensure effective communication and support for each student.
· Track students’ progress and adjust educational strategies to align with their needs and foster success.
· Maintain comprehensive and current records of students’ accomplishments and challenges.
· Stay updated on the latest trends, techniques, and best practices in special education.
· Engage in professional development activities and training sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in special education, education, or a relevant specialization.
· “Brevet d’enseignement,” teaching permit, or provisional teaching permit valid in Quebec or equivalent from another Canadian province.
· A Master’s degree in special education is an asset.

The Board may choose to waive any or all qualification requirements at its discretion if a suitable candidate is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and agrees to complete a training plan established by the Board as a condition of employment.

REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in the language of instruction (English, French, or Inuktitut).

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board, ranging from $46,527 to $92,027 annually based on experience and qualifications. In addition to salary, eligible candidates may receive benefits such as:
