Position Overview: The Vice Principal (Primary) acts as the strategic and educational leader for the Primary School (Nursery to Year 6), similar to a Head of Primary role. This position involves overseeing educational standards, leading staff, and continuously enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, and pastoral care within a Catholic educational context. We are seeking a committed Catholic leader with deep knowledge of child pedagogy and significant experience in leading teams of primary educators. The individual selected will be responsible for the effective management of the Primary School, spanning Nursery through Year 6.
The Vice Principal of Primary will be an engaged Catholic who embodies Christ-centered values and beliefs. This leader will showcase and advocate for the Catholic ethos of the school through vision, relationships, and everyday practices, ensuring a harmonious integration of faith and learning throughout the institution. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly motivated professional with excellent communication skills, who will contribute significantly to the effective functioning and ongoing development of the primary school. Close collaboration with the Pastor, Principal, and other senior leaders in both primary and secondary education will be crucial for the continuous enhancement of the Primary School and the wider institution, reinforcing the school’s identity and values while prioritizing academic excellence and faith-driven principles. This includes building on the school’s existing strengths and addressing areas for improvement identified in the most recent inspection report to align with the vision for sustained excellence.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Leadership and management qualifications and/or relevant advanced degree, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in primary education, including over 10 years in a senior leadership position within a Catholic school.
• PGCE, QTS, or another internationally recognized teaching qualification.
• Proven record of fostering the Catholic ethos within a Catholic school, driving school improvement, and developing leadership in others.
• Familiarity and experience in implementing the UK National Curriculum and collaborating with Years N to 6 in curriculum development.
• Strong understanding of contemporary educational trends.
• Current knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection practices.
Key Leadership Priorities and Responsibilities in Primary:
· Direct the strategic vision and daily operations of the EYFS/Primary School.
· Integrate the Catholic ethos in line with the school’s mission.
· Drive school improvement initiatives based on the recommendations from the previous inspection and prepare for upcoming evaluations.
· Ensure excellence in teaching, learning, pastoral care, and curriculum delivery (UK National Curriculum).
· Lead and collaborate with senior leaders, cultivating a culture of accountability and growth among all staff.
· Oversee quality assurance and processes aimed at enhancing students’ academic progress and achievement.
· Collaborate with teachers and professionals to develop exemplary teaching and learning practices, including support for students with additional learning needs.
· Foster an inclusive Primary environment that caters to all learners.
· Ensure compliance with statutory and diocesan safeguarding and child protection requirements.
· Supervise effective operational practices that enhance learning and staff performance.
· Guide the recruitment, retention, performance management, and professional development of high-quality staff, including building leadership capacity among leaders and responsibility holders.
Salary and Benefits:
· Competitive salary ranging from CI$76,500 to CI$90,500 per annum, tax-free, based on experience and qualifications.
