About This Role
We are a small, welcoming village primary school with a strong sense of community and a commitment to providing an inclusive, nurturing and supportive environment for every child.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and experienced SENDco who will share our values, work collaboratively with colleagues and families, and bring energy, expertise and a child-centred approach to the role.
This is an exciting opportunity for a SENDco who is passionate about inclusion and ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive. The successful candidate will work closely with our staff, families and external professionals to lead and coordinate provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
Responsible to: Headteacher and Governing Body
Hours: 1 day per week
Role: SENDco - no teaching responsibilities
Salary: Main Scale (pro rata ) plus full SEN Allowance
As SENDCo, you will:
- Lead and coordinate the school’s SEND provision.
- Support teachers and staff in identifying and meeting the needs of pupils with SEND.
- Maintain and develop effective SEND systems, records and provision.
- Work closely with parents and carers to ensure positive communication and partnership.
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals where appropriate.
- Monitor and review the progress and provision of pupils with SEND.
- Contribute to the development of an inclusive whole-school approach.
- Keep up to date with relevant SEND legislation, guidance and best practice.
There are no teaching responsibilities attached to this role. The successful candidate will have dedicated time to undertake the SENDCo role effectively.
The successful candidate will ideally:
- Have experience working in a SEND/SENDco capacity within a primary school setting.
- Have a strong understanding of SEND provision and the graduated approach.
- Be organised, approachable and an effective communicator.
- Be able to work independently while building positive relationships with staff, pupils and families.
- Have a genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for children with SEND.
