About This Role

We are looking for a dynamic and passionate PE & Swimming Teacher to join our team starting in August 2026.

About the School

St. Andrews International Primary School is situated in a serene, green area of Blantyre, the commercial center of Malawi. This esteemed institution has established a solid reputation not only in Malawi but also throughout Southern Africa and globally.

We are currently embarking on an exciting journey of transformation to meet the demands of the 21st century, while nurturing an inclusive atmosphere that allows every child to flourish. We uphold high standards of academic achievement and conduct, delivering an enhanced UK curriculum that is carefully designed to resonate within both international and African frameworks.

A significant aspect of our transformation includes the integration of AI, STEM, and vocational skills into our primary teaching and learning methodologies. We envision St. Andrews as a launchpad for a rewarding and successful future, rather than merely a transition to secondary education. Through Inquiry-Based Learning and modern technical skills, we prepare our students with the resilience and creativity needed for today's world.

About the Country

Malawi, known as the "Warm Heart of Africa," is a country filled with natural beauty and immense potential. A proud member of the Commonwealth, Malawi emphasizes English as the primary language for business, science, and international relations. Blantyre offers a pleasant climate and a welcoming atmosphere for expatriate staff. Outside the classroom, the stunning landscapes of Mount Mulanje and the renowned shores of Lake Malawi present incredible opportunities for both adventure and relaxation.

The Role

The successful candidate will develop and implement a high-quality physical education and swimming program that promotes health, resilience, and teamwork. This role is vital to our commitment to ensuring a rich and fulfilling future for every student.

Professional Requirements & Attributes

  • A full UK teaching certification (or an equivalent professional qualification from your home country). Specific qualifications in coaching or swimming instruction would be advantageous.
  • Experience in managing a team of PE staff or leading a department is preferred.
  • A flexible approach to curriculum development and strong Assessment for Learning (AfL) skills.
  • A complete commitment to Safer Recruitment practices and a deep dedication to the welfare of children.
