About This Role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to become a part of our Middle/High School team. The anticipated start date for this position is 01 August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Uphold and promote the ethos and high standards outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Deliver the mandated curriculum while demonstrating a thorough and current understanding of the subject matter.
  • Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and creating a classroom atmosphere that accommodates various learning styles.
  • Provide documented evidence of lesson planning and preparation upon request. Maintain organized records of curriculum plans, yearly agendas, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, etc.
  • Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently.
  • Teach assigned students according to their unique needs, employing effective teaching methods tailored to support diverse learners, such as late entrants, ESL students, those with lower academic abilities, and gifted individuals.
  • Assign and evaluate student work. Track, record, and communicate students' academic progress and achievements, using assessment data to ensure the curriculum addresses each student's needs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in incorporating media and technology into classroom instruction.
  • Foster the overall development and well-being of students, providing educational guidance as needed.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, such as Ministry of Education officials, when appropriate.
  • Participate in appraisal and Performance Management processes as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in creating and enhancing teaching materials, resources, curricula, and pastoral support systems.
  • Take part in, and lead when suitable, co-curricular and extracurricular activities within the school, fostering positive working relationships through proactive leadership and sharing of ideas and resources.
  • Supervise and manage student behavior effectively, implementing strategies to promote self-discipline and address disruptive actions.
  • Encourage cultural awareness and appreciation, while instilling a passion for learning.
  • Assist in organizing and planning school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents about the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep them updated on their children’s progress while ensuring confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Demonstrate initiative and dedication beyond regular working hours when additional commitments are necessary.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as required.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by direct and indirect supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
