About This Role
GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is looking to appoint an exceptional Head of Year 7 starting in August 2026.
The ideal candidate will oversee the Year 7 cohort, facilitating a seamless transition to secondary education while fostering high standards in behavior, wellbeing, and academic achievement.
Job Purpose:
As the Head of Year 7, you will be responsible for the academic and pastoral growth of students during their initial year of secondary school. This position emphasizes the establishment of effective routines, clear expectations, and a nurturing environment that enables students to build confidence, independence, and a positive approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the pastoral care and wellbeing of the Year 7 cohort.
- Encourage exemplary standards in behavior, attendance, and engagement.
- Manage the transition program from Year 6 to Year 7.
- Monitor academic performance and organize interventions as necessary.
- Support and supervise Year 7 form tutors.
- Foster strong relationships with parents and ensure clear communication.
- Cultivate a positive culture within the year group through enrichment activities and student involvement.
- Track attendance, behavior, and wellbeing, providing timely support as required.
- Maintain precise records and play a role in safeguarding and compliance.
- Contribute to school-wide priorities and initiatives.
