About This Role
We are seeking an inspiring, future‑focused leader to join our senior leadership team in a two‑year fixed‑term assistant principal position. This role, up to 5MUs depending on responsibilities, offers a rare opportunity to influence whole‑school direction, lead meaningful change, and contribute to a collaborative, forward‑thinking leadership team. The start date is negotiable.
As assistant principal, you will help drive curriculum innovation, lead the implementation of NCEA changes, and strengthen systems that support high‑quality teaching and learning. Working closely with the principal and other leaders, you will guide strategic initiatives, promote culturally responsive practice, and support staff and students to thrive. A small teaching component may be included, and applicants are welcome to indicate subject preferences.
This position carries broad leadership responsibilities. You will support the school’s vision and strategic direction, contribute to policy development, assist with staff appointments, and maintain strong relationships with whānau. You will play a key role in staff welfare, uphold behaviour and attendance expectations, provide pastoral support, and assist staff with management challenges. The role also includes leading PGC conversations with MU holders, supporting curriculum area reviews, and working closely with learning area leaders to strengthen teaching and learning.
