Head of Primary (SLT)

Bahlool British International School, a respected British international institution located in Baghdad, is on the lookout for a skilled and passionate Head of Primary.

In this key position, the selected individual will lead the Primary phase, ensuring exceptional standards of teaching and learning while actively participating in the school’s strategic growth. The Role

The chosen candidate will be responsible for:

Providing strategic leadership and management of the Primary phase (KS1 & KS2), ensuring exemplary teaching, learning, and student achievement

•
Overseeing curriculum development and execution in alignment with the British educational framework

•
Driving initiatives for school improvement, including standards monitoring, data analysis, and enhancing student attainment

•
Supporting and nurturing staff through coaching, performance appraisals, and opportunities for professional growth

•
Ensuring effective safeguarding, behavior management, and student wellbeing throughout the Primary phase

•
Collaborating with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team on overall school strategy and improvement planning

•
Cultivating strong relationships with parents, staff, and the broader school community

•
Actively engaging in the wider life and ethos of the school

Requirements

•
A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field; a master’s degree in education or leadership is preferred.

•
A recognized teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)

•
Extensive teaching experience, including a minimum of 3–5 years in Primary education

•
Demonstrated experience in a leadership or management position within an educational setting

•
A solid understanding of the British curriculum (KS1 & KS2)

•
Strong strategic thinking and organizational capabilities with the ability to lead change initiatives

•
A commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and promoting student wellbeing

•
The ability to cultivate a positive school culture and champion inclusive education
