RAK Academy Al Hamra:

Situated in the southern region of Ras Al Khaimah within the Al Hamra community, RAK Academy – Al Hamra is an expanding primary and lower secondary institution that implements an adapted UK National Curriculum from Pre-K to Grade 8, in addition to the UAE MOE subjects. Our newly established secondary school, accommodating Grades 6 to 8, will open its doors for the first time in August 2026. We are accredited by the British Schools Overseas (BSO), aligned with leading international British institutions, and are equipped to fully deliver the ECT induction to our educators.

The Role (Founding Position):

RAK Academy – Al Hamra is in search of an enthusiastic, motivated, and visionary founding Head of Creative Arts to spearhead the development of our new secondary Creative Arts department. This unique opportunity allows for the creation of curriculum pathways, artistic culture, assessment frameworks, and teaching standards in a school set to launch in August 2026.

As the founding middle leader, the Head of Creative Arts will:


Craft and execute the Creative Arts curriculum for Grades 6–8.


Establish assessment frameworks, departmental guidelines, and expectations for high-caliber teaching.


Cultivate a dynamic environment of creativity, expression, and artistic excellence throughout the new secondary school.


Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of Creative Arts educators.


Collaborate closely with the Head of School, Deputy Head, and primary arts leaders to ensure continuity and advancement.


Oversee curriculum planning, exhibitions, performances, resource management, and professional development requirements.


Instruct across various key stages as the school expands.

This role is perfect for a leader who flourishes in fast-paced settings, enjoys building systems from the ground up, and is inspired by the challenge and excitement of launching a new school.

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Design and Technology or Art and Design.

• Post Graduate Certificate in Education (or equivalent).

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Strong understanding of teaching and learning principles.

• Proficient in leveraging technology to enhance teaching and learning.

• Ability to engage, motivate, and support students.

• Reflective practitioner with a knack for creative thinking and innovation.

• Positive, enthusiastic team player with a growth mindset.

• Willingness to actively participate in extracurricular activities.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Experience teaching GCSE/IGCSE/A-Level courses (Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply).

Desirable:

• National Professional Qualification Middle Leadership (NPQML).

• National Professional Qualification Leading Teaching (NPQLT).

• Experience in contributing to or leading curriculum development.

• Proven track record of enhancing student outcomes.
