Responsibilities:
- Fostering a positive learning environment that encourages exceptional teaching practices
- Defining clear teaching and learning goals
- Designing tasks that engage students and stimulate high levels of interest
- Establishing high and appropriate expectations for students
- Setting clear objectives that build on previous learning
- Recognizing students with special educational needs or exceptional abilities and ensuring their needs are met through tailored approaches
- Structuring lessons effectively while maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge
- Utilizing assessment for learning effectively
- Leveraging performance data and key indicators to guide planning and deliver differentiated lessons
- Upholding discipline in line with the school’s ‘Behaviour for Learning Policy’ and promoting good practices regarding punctuality, behavior, work standards, and homework
- Employing a range of teaching strategies to:
- Align methods with content, organize information, highlight key ideas, and use appropriate terminology
- Engage in effective questioning, actively listen to students, and address errors and misconceptions
- Choose suitable learning resources and enhance study skills through the library, ICT, and other educational technologies
- Evaluating student achievement of learning objectives and using this information to improve specific aspects of teaching
- Grading student work at least biweekly and setting progress targets
- Using performance data to inform lesson planning and ensure continuous value-added learning
- Systematically assessing and recording students' progress, maintaining records to ensure comprehension and completion, monitoring strengths and areas for growth, informing planning, and recognizing student achievement levels
- Conducting assessments as required by examination boards, departmental, and school protocols
- Preparing and delivering informative reports to parents
- Participating in subject development by creating, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work
- Keeping subject knowledge current through continuing professional development and professional reading
- Attending relevant professional development workshops
- Taking on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Vice Principal as needed.
Qualifications:
- You must be a fully qualified teacher with:
- A passion for education and a caring approach
- A Bachelor’s in Education or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, along with a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in the relevant area
- Familiarity with the American curriculum
- A commitment to a comprehensive enrichment program
- Recent and consistent engagement in extracurricular activities
