The Role
In the capacity of Head of Wellbeing & Learning Support, you will be instrumental in leading the school’s inclusive education initiatives. Reporting directly to the Deputy Headteacher, the successful candidate will oversee a dedicated team of Learning Support and EAL/ESL teachers and assistants, ensuring the academic, social, and emotional success of all students.
Key Responsibilities include:
•
Strategic Leadership: Leading the Wellbeing & Learning Support department and embedding inclusive practices across the school.
•
SEND & Inclusion: Managing the identification, assessment, and support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
•
Language Proficiency: Overseeing EAL/ESL programs to promote language development and engagement with the curriculum.
•
Wellbeing & Pastoral Care: Cultivating a positive school environment and providing focused support for students experiencing social or emotional difficulties.
•
High Achievement: Aiding in the identification and enrichment of gifted and high-achieving students.
•
Assessment & Data: Utilizing assessment tools such as CAT4, NGRT, and SNAP to monitor progress and inform personalized support.
Professional Requirements and Attributes
•
A valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) with specialized credentials in SEND.
•
A proven track record of leadership within a British International School or UK educational setting.
•
Expertise in EAL/ESL support (TEFL/TESOL preferred).
•
Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to maintaining open communication with parents and external specialists.
•
Experience in driving transformational change and inspiring staff to excel in inclusive education.
•
Complete adherence to Safer Recruitment protocols and a strong dedication to child welfare.
