Baleares International College is situated on the outskirts of the scenic Sa Porrassa area in Calvia, located in the southwest region of Mallorca. Founded in 1957, it stands as one of the island's most established institutions for international education. In 2006, it became part of the Orbital Education group, serving a dynamic community of expatriate and local students aged 2 to 18 years. The college provides a comprehensive British-style curriculum that is tailored to meet the diverse needs of its community. The educational journey begins with the Foundation Stage curriculum designed for children aged 2 to 5 years. As students progress through the later year groups, they follow a curriculum aligned with recommendations from the British Education Department. The final phases of education culminate in external examinations between ages 16 and 18, guided by the esteemed Cambridge and Edexcel Examination Boards in England, leading to IGCSE qualifications and subsequent AS and A-levels. Currently, Baleares International College enrolls students from 27 different countries, many of whom may arrive with limited English proficiency. To support their rapid progress, the school offers an EAL (English as an Additional Language) program. Language acquisition is a significant aspect of the educational framework, with Spanish introduced at age 2, German starting at age 6, and French taught from age 14. Instruction is provided by fully qualified and experienced British educators, alongside language specialists from Spain, Germany, and France. Students have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of sports, including sailing, kayaking, and windsurfing, allowing them to enjoy the island's unique offerings. The recently renovated facilities at Baleares International College boast a wide array of excellent amenities, including an indoor sports center, playing fields with football and rugby pitches, a swimming pool, all-weather courts for basketball, football, and volleyball, a running track, a new ICT suite, a library, science laboratories, a multimedia room, and air-conditioned classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards to enhance the learning experience. British International Kindergarten: After significant renovations, the previous site of the college in San Agustin reopened in September 2009 as the British International Kindergarten.
