Ecole d'Humanité

Recruiting Institution

View Full School Profile & Vacancies
Ecole d’Humanité is an international boarding high school situated in Hasliberg Goldern, conveniently located along the rail route connecting Interlaken and Lucerne. Nestled amid the breathtaking Bernese Oberland mountains, our community serves as a vibrant hub for individuals from approximately 25 different nations. This remarkable natural backdrop not only fosters a nurturing educational atmosphere but also presents outstanding opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as hiking, skiing, and climbing. At the Ecole, our academic curriculum prioritizes deep understanding over superficial learning. Each trimester, students focus on just three academic subjects, enabling them to engage with each topic in greater depth. With a favorable student-teacher ratio of 5:1, our small class sizes facilitate personalized instruction and encourage active involvement from every student. To complement the rigorous academic experience during morning hours, afternoons are dedicated to arts, sports, and hands-on activities, with students having the option to choose from around eighty different courses. They can dive into diverse subjects such as blacksmithing, skiing, woodworking, painting, pottery, rock climbing, as well as participate in annual Shakespeare performances, French theater, and various music ensembles, which include classical, jazz, folk, and pop styles, along with lessons in both instrumental and vocal music, gardening, and animal husbandry. Ecole d’Humanité offers both Swiss and American educational tracks. The American Program culminates in a High School Diploma and includes preparation for the College Board SAT exams, with the Ecole serving as an official testing site. Additionally, students can work towards the AP International Diploma, facilitating their admission to universities globally. The Swiss Program provides primary and secondary school diplomas recognized throughout Switzerland. For older students, there are opportunities to prepare for university through the Swiss Matura exams or the College Board AP exams, as well as courses designed to enhance their prospects for securing competitive apprenticeships or vocational college placements.
