About This Role
The Primary Assistant Headteacher is an essential member of the Primary Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic, operational, and academic leadership of the Primary phase. This role supports the Headteacher in ensuring high standards in teaching, learning, behavior, wellbeing, and student outcomes. The Assistant Headteacher is expected to offer clear and consistent leadership throughout the school, making significant contributions to continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
•
Support the Headteacher in achieving the school's vision, values, and strategic objectives.
•
Engage in thorough school self-evaluation and improvement planning.
•
Demonstrate high professional standards while cultivating a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and accountability.
Teaching, Learning, and Standards
•
Assess the quality of teaching and learning through classroom observations, learning walks, book reviews, and data analysis.
•
Assist Key Stage Leaders, Year Leaders, and Subject Leaders in driving progress and enhancing student achievement.
•
Leverage assessment data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
•
Promote consistency in planning, feedback, and classroom practices across the Primary phase.
Pastoral Care, Behavior, and Safeguarding
•
Encourage high behavioral expectations and positive conduct among students throughout the school.
•
Work in collaboration with pastoral leaders to prioritize student wellbeing and inclusivity.
•
Follow safeguarding protocols and help cultivate a strong safeguarding culture.
•
Professionally engage with parents to address concerns with a focus on solutions.
Operational Leadership
•
Ensure the smooth daily operation of the Primary school.
•
Manage key operational systems as directed by the Headteacher.
•
Assist in the creation of timetables, event coordination, and school routines.
•
Guarantee the consistent application of policies and procedures.
Staff Development and Performance
•
Oversee designated middle leaders or teaching staff.
•
Participate in performance appraisal and management processes.
•
Provide coaching, mentoring, and support for professional development.
•
Encourage teamwork and professional dialogue among staff.
Parental and Community Engagement
•
Build strong communication with parents to foster positive partnerships.
•
Represent the school at meetings, events, and community activities.
•
Support initiatives that promote student leadership, self-confidence, and involvement in co-curricular activities.
