About This Role

The Meadow Lake Tribal Council is inviting contractors to express their interest in a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position within the Office of Education. This position plays a crucial role within the MLTC Student Wellness team, collaborating with nine (9) schools to deliver important support and programming. The contractor will create innovative intervention strategies at all three tiers that can be employed by both educators and students to promote student growth.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of formal and informal assessments to identify and assess disorders related to language, speech, voice, resonance, and fluency.
- Provide consultation and intervention services for students with fluency disorders.
- Educate and advise clients, families, and school staff regarding communication disorders.
- Design and implement strategies and devices for augmentative and alternative communication.
- Develop and execute treatment plans for students with articulation delays or disorders.
- Train support staff on the application of articulation therapy.
- Collaborate with other SLPs to support students with varied concerns and therapy requirements.
- Follow up on recommendations made and offer additional support as necessary, including requests for professional development.
- Organize professional development sessions for the school-based team upon request.
- Prepare reports with recommendations for the school-based team or families, which may include adapting classroom tasks, creating individualized and classroom programming, and providing suggestions to enhance student success in educational settings.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field; must hold a license from the Saskatchewan Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (SASLPA).
- Experience collaborating with First Nations Schools and Communities.
- Willingness to travel to First Nation Communities; must be adept at working independently and as part of a team.
- Support initiatives focused on land, language, relationships, and culture.
- Proficiency in the Cree/Dene language is advantageous.
- Knowledge or eagerness to receive training in support of MLTC’s initiatives, including but not limited to: ISC Special Education System, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Reference and Regulate Autism, and various augmentative and alternative communication devices and strategies (e.g., Proloquo2Go).
