Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways to Teach Canada)

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years in a formal or informal leadership role within a school (e.g., Vice-Principal, department head, instructional coach, or teacher-leader)
  • At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience

  • A strong commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive school environment that promotes the well-being of students and staff.
  • Proven capability to collaborate with the Principal to support instructional leadership, emphasizing literacy development and inclusive practices.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, families, and community members, particularly in a northern and cross-cultural context.

  • Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written).
