About This Role

The School Operations Manager plays a key role in overseeing the development, upkeep, safety, and efficient daily functions of the school's facilities, administration, and support services. This position ensures that the school’s premises, buildings, and resources are secure, effective, and meet the highest standards of operational excellence, while also strategically contributing to the institution's growth and success.

The individual in this role will collaborate closely with the Principal/CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Corporate Office to provide expert guidance on business, financial, and operational issues. They will be responsible for ensuring that resources are managed effectively, budgets are maximized, and services are delivered to the highest quality, thereby supporting the school’s academic mission and enhancing its community engagement.

Leadership & Strategy
- Offer strategic advice to the Principal/CEO and Senior Leadership regarding operational, financial, and business issues.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the school’s improvement plan and long-term sustainability objectives.
- Drive initiatives focused on environmental sustainability and operational efficiency throughout the school.
- Ensure that robust performance management systems are established for all support teams.

Administration & Support Services
- Coordinate and oversee all administration and support services, ensuring efficient allocation of staff and resources.
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and ongoing professional development of administration and support personnel.
- Foster a culture of service excellence, accountability, and professionalism within all teams.

Finance & Business Operations
- Administer budgets, track expenditures, and guarantee value for money in all operational areas.
- Collaborate with the Accounts team to prepare monthly financial reports, variance analyses, and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with Delegation of Authority and auditing requirements.
- Supervise third-party service providers, ensuring that KPIs, contracts, and service standards are consistently achieved.

Facilities & Health & Safety
- Manage the maintenance, security, and smooth operation of the school’s premises, buildings, and grounds.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and safeguarding regulations, in accordance with GEMS Corporate policies and local laws.
- Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance schedules, whether conducted in-house or through external contractors.
- Supervise facilities services, including cleaning, waste management, energy consumption, catering, transportation, and accommodation.
- Advocate for secure parking, safe site access, and effective utilization of CCTV and security systems.

Community & Commercial Engagement
- Market school facilities as venues for events, conferences, and community activities.
- Ensure seamless operation of ancillary services such as catering, the school shop, and after-school programs.
- Strengthen connections with parents, staff, and the broader community by providing high-quality services and fostering a welcoming school atmosphere.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
