Core Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Innovation: Spearhead the incorporation of Citizens School's entrepreneurial and inquiry-driven curriculum within the secondary science department, ensuring coherence with both British and International Baccalaureate frameworks.
  • Inquiry-Based Learning: Create a learning atmosphere that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving, utilizing practical resources such as rooftop greenhouses to connect scientific principles to real-world scenarios.
  • Project-Based Learning (PBL): Support cross-disciplinary projects that integrate the British curriculum with inquiry-focused strategies, preparing students for real-world challenges.
  • Individualized Support: Establish strong connections with students, offering tailored guidance to foster their academic and personal development.
  • Team Leadership: Motivate and collaborate with science mentors, ensuring a unified and high-performing team that provides exceptional science education.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Specialist in science with expertise in one of the following: Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • Demonstrated experience in iGCSEs, delivering inquiry-driven and project-based science education, preferably within the British or International Baccalaureate curriculum.
  • Enthusiasm for connecting classroom learning to real-world applications, embracing a hands-on approach to science teaching.
  • Strong dedication to personalized learning experiences and fostering an inclusive educational environment.
  • Relevant academic qualifications; a Bachelor’s degree is required, with a Master’s preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification accompanied by a minimum of five years of teaching experience.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Awareness of the diverse needs of all students.
  • Proficiency in IT to enhance productivity and facilitate classroom learning.
