Elementary Teacher - Grade 2 (Full-Time Position)
The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is seeking a dedicated, dynamic, and passionate individual for the position of Grade Two (2) Teacher at Father Megret Elementary School located in Hatchet Lake, Saskatchewan. This role requires exceptional interpersonal abilities, a commitment to project-based learning, and the creation of an engaging educational environment for students. ADEA serves three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan: Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation, with an estimated student population of around 1,400. The Authority is focused on improving educational outcomes by utilizing modern technology, launching innovative programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into both classroom and school curricula.
This position is open to all applicants residing in Canada, with a preference for First Nation or Indigenous candidates who fulfill the specified qualifications and skills for the position.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Be aware of any allergies that students may have.
- Develop clear instructional strategies that foster a positive learning environment within the framework of Denesuline culture and language.
- Provide students with opportunities for peer interactions, social skills development, and a strong foundation for future academic success.
- Prepare materials in advance to ensure classroom readiness for student engagement upon their arrival.
- Create effective family engagement strategies to boost learning success and cultivate a welcoming atmosphere that encourages parental involvement in the classroom.
- Continuously assess and document student learning on a daily basis.
- Assist children with self-care tasks such as dressing, diapering, and feeding.
- Implement cleaning protocols to ensure that all reusable materials, dishes, and utensils are cleaned and sanitized before leaving for the day.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must exhibit characteristics such as patience, adaptability, keen observation, and a passion for teaching.
- Strong communication skills, including both verbal and nonverbal communication, active listening, and empathy are essential.
- A solid understanding of programs and assessments including: Play and Exploration: Early Learning Program Guide; Early Years Evaluation (EYE); Prekindergarten Essentials: Effective Practices, Policies and Guidelines; and the Saskatchewan Curriculum.
- Committed to adhering to the provincial Ministry of Education curricula that emphasize holistic child development across social-emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions.
- Actively engage with families, children, and community members to acknowledge their backgrounds and experiences, fostering an equitable and inclusive educational environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office staff, students, parents, and community members.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and professional information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or an equivalent qualification.
