Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Program Support Teacher to join our team. The perfect candidate will play a vital role in designing and implementing educational programs that are inclusive, celebrate diversity, and honor the rich cultural heritage of our community. This position requires a strong commitment to inclusive educational practices, indigenization, and a competency-based learning approach.
Responsibilities:
- Course Development: Work alongside educators, Elders, and community members to develop and put into action a competency-based curriculum that is deeply embedded in Indigenous knowledge and values.
- Cultural Inclusion: Support the creation of a learning environment that recognizes and incorporates diverse Indigenous perspectives, ensuring the curriculum reflects the local Indigenous culture.
- Equity and Inclusion: Assist teachers in implementing strategies that promote equity and inclusion within the school community, addressing educational disparities and fostering a sense of belonging for all students.
- Community Engagement: Serve as a liaison between the school and the community, collecting input, promoting collaboration, and seeking feedback to continuously improve educational programs.
- Land-Based Education: Help develop inclusive, land-based learning experiences designed to ensure equitable access to the curriculum and promote a deep connection to the land and traditional practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education
- Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate

- Background in curriculum implementation, specifically with a focus on competency-based education.
- Familiarity with competency-based assessment and evaluation.
- Understanding of principles and practices related to land-based education.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
