Main Purpose

The Head of UAE MoE Curriculum is responsible for:

  • Providing strategic leadership and management across all subjects under the Ministry of Education (MoE) framework. This role ensures high standards of teaching and learning, adherence to regulations, and the effective integration of national identity and values into the overall school curriculum.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates interested in this position must fulfill the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Possession of a valid UAE Teaching License (TLS) or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
  • A minimum of 2–5 years of demonstrated leadership experience at the Head of Department level within a UAE educational environment.
  • Fluency in Arabic (native or near-native) and strong English proficiency (both written and spoken).
  • Proven track record of achieving "Very Good" or higher ratings in KHDA/DSIB or ADEK inspections specifically related to MoE subjects.

Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum standards and framework.
  • Thorough understanding of the KHDA/DSIB Inspection Framework and the UAE National Agenda Parameter.
  • Ability to analyze both internal and external data (e.g., IGCSE, PISA, TIMSS, and MoE assessments) to promote departmental improvement.
  • Strong ICT skills, including the effective use of AI and digital resources for Arabic and Islamic education.
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities to facilitate communication between school leadership and MoE/KHDA officials.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

  • Guide the strategic vision for the Arabic A, Arabic B, Islamic Education, and Social Studies departments.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive departmental action plan aligned with the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Ensure the curriculum is culturally relevant, complies with UAE regulations, and is effectively structured across all key stages.
  • Exhibit outstanding classroom practices.
  • Consistently review relevant school policies in partnership with staff and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Advise and collaborate with colleagues to support, monitor, and enhance the designated subjects.
  • Assist departmental leaders in overseeing the teaching of Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects throughout the school.
  • Participate in the school’s Extended Senior Leadership Team.

Curriculum

  • Demonstrate exceptional classroom practices.
  • Take responsibility for advancing Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects across the entire school while maintaining and elevating standards.
  • Analyze assessment data to assess student progress in Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects.
  • Support staff in creating schemes of work that ensure the continuity and progression of skills and knowledge throughout the school.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support, monitor, and develop Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects.
  • Assist teachers in overseeing the instruction of Arabic, Islamic, and MoE subjects school-wide.

Administrative

  • Assist the SLT and Heads of School in managing a designated budget for acquiring resources and books for Arabic instruction.
  • Organize and evaluate resources, providing guidance to staff on their use and storage.
  • Coordinate informative curriculum development initiatives.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
