The School

Cheltenham Muscat, which opened its doors in September 2021, is Oman’s first premium British school catering to students aged 3 to 18. The Person

We are in search of a highly qualified and enthusiastic individual to join our growing Physical Education (PE) department. The successful candidate will be a lively, dedicated educator with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Duties will encompass teaching PE to various year groups, with specific assignments determined by the skills and experience of the selected individual.

The chosen candidate will also be tasked with embedding the values of Cheltenham Muscat into their teaching, fostering the development of well-rounded and principled young adults. A strong grasp of sports and the ability to engage students through both theoretical and practical teaching strategies tailored to their individual needs is essential.

Experience with the UK National Curriculum is a must, along with the capability to inspire and motivate students while maintaining high academic standards.

All staff members are expected to take part in pastoral care within the school community, usually serving as form tutors or co-tutors, as well as contributing to the extracurricular programs available.

Please be advised that applicants must have a minimum of three full years of relevant teaching experience to qualify for a work permit to teach in Oman.

Person Specification (E - Essential, D - Desirable)

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a sports-related field from a recognized university. (E)

• Post Graduate Certificate of Education (or equivalent). (E)

• Qualified Teacher Status. (E)

• Evidence of further postgraduate study. (D)

Skills and Experience

• A minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience. (E)

• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for England. (E)

• Expertise in the subject area. (E)

• A proven track record of delivering high-quality PE instruction and extracurricular sporting activities. (E)

• A solid academic background and experience that commands respect from students, parents, colleagues, and the broader community. (E)

• Experience working with children for whom English is a second language. (D)

• Familiarity with the standards of a premium British school environment. (D)
