In 2024, we expanded our offerings with a secondary campus, providing Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level programs alongside a tailored Key Stage 3 curriculum. Position Overview We are seeking a proactive, skilled, and enthusiastic Secondary Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and execution of support systems for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role primarily involves the efficient implementation and monitoring of personalized support provisions. Responsibilities include identifying student needs, developing and tracking Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and enrichment plans, as well as coordinating vital resources and intervention strategies to enhance student achievement and curriculum accessibility. The SENCO will collaborate closely with teaching staff to ensure that inclusive practices and differentiated instruction are integrated into the classroom. Furthermore, they will play a critical role within the Pastoral Care Team, addressing safeguarding and social-emotional needs, including the incorporation of executive functioning skills throughout the curriculum. This position also requires collaboration with external specialists, management of documentation, and providing support to parents and caregivers through effective communication and meetings. The SENCO will ensure that all student support initiatives comply with school protocols, as well as the legal and safeguarding requirements established in Hong Kong. Key Responsibilities SEN Student Support Identify and support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) throughout the school. Work alongside teaching staff and parents to create, implement, and oversee Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and intervention strategies. Manage documentation and case tracking using the school's designated safeguarding platform while maintaining confidential student records. Serve as a liaison with external specialists to facilitate assessments and ongoing support for students. Guide the learning support team and homeroom teachers by providing relevant resources for students with SEN. Oversee and manage the resources allocated for SEN provision. Pastoral Care, Safeguarding & Compliance Participate in the Safeguarding and Pastoral Care Team, documenting cases and sharing insights regarding student well-being and social-emotional challenges. Provide expert advice on SEN-related safeguarding issues, including necessary risk assessments and intervention strategies. Offer counseling or referrals to external specialists when necessary, ensuring all cases are documented according to school policy. Engage with parents and caregivers through regular meetings, communication, and workshops to enhance home-school partnerships.
