About the Position

We are seeking a dynamic and creative MYP Design Teacher with a focus on Product Design (woodworking, CAD, laser cutting, and 3D printing) to join our international school in Luxembourg.

This role is ideal for an educator who views design as a crucial instrument for students to explore concepts, address real-world issues, and build confidence as creators and innovators. While the primary emphasis will be on Product Design, familiarity with Digital Design is also important, as it is integrated within the broader IB MYP Design curriculum.

At our school, we foster a learning environment that thrives on curiosity, inquiry, and hands-on experimentation. We are looking for a teacher who enjoys guiding students through the design cycle, helping them define problems, conduct research, brainstorm, prototype, test, iterate, and reflect, all while cultivating practical design and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

As our MYP Design Teacher, you will inspire students to design, create, and evaluate solutions to real-world problems, encouraging creativity and technical confidence.

● Designing inquiry-based and project-centered learning experiences that connect design to real-world applications.
● Teaching IB MYP Design, with a focus on Product Design, encompassing areas like prototyping, materials, tools, and the design process.
● Delivering engaging hands-on design projects that foster experimentation, iteration, and innovation.
● Incorporating elements of Digital Design, such as digital modeling, design tools, technology-supported workflows, robotics, coding, and electronics into the curriculum.
● Assisting students in developing effective design thinking and problem-solving skills, including procedural, logical, concurrent, abstract, and recursive thinking.
● Thoughtfully incorporating technology to enhance learning and creativity.
● Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners, including those learning English as an additional language.
● Utilizing a Learning Management System to organize educational resources and engage students effectively.
● Collaborating with colleagues to develop curriculum and share best practices.
● Contributing to the well-being and pastoral life of the school by taking on the role of student advisor.
● Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every learner feels valued.
● Applying continuous assessment and feedback to foster student growth.
● Actively participating in the vibrant school community, including parent evenings, community events, and extracurricular activities.
● Engaging in professional development and introducing innovative teaching ideas in the classroom.
● Effectively leveraging AI to support learners with a human-centered approach, advocating for ethical principles, responsible use, and providing the skills necessary to create and utilize AI to enhance their educational experience.

We are keen to welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, particularly those whose nationality, identity, gender, or race is currently underrepresented in international education.

We are committed to safeguarding and prioritizing the well-being of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.

Profile: (training, experience, skills, and aptitudes necessary to perform the job)

● At least two years of successful teaching experience, preferably within the IB MYP framework.
● Extensive background in teaching Product Design, including practical workshop or maker-space environments.
● Experience in teaching or integrating Digital Design tools and processes.
● A passion for inquiry-based, concept-driven, and project-based learning.
● Confidence in incorporating technology into both teaching and learning practices.
● Ability to demonstrate AI Literacy skills: understanding AI principles, exploring AI applications, directing AI effectively, evaluating AI outputs, and utilizing AI responsibly.
● Experience in supporting diverse learners, including students learning English as an additional language.
● A collaborative mindset and enjoyment of working within a professional learning community.
● A strong commitment to student well-being and holistic development.
● Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Design, Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
● Valid teaching qualification or certification.
● Fluency in English (near-native level).
● Experience in an international school setting is advantageous.
