About this Role
York House School is currently inviting applications for the position of Career Education and Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a strong passion for education, and a commitment to developing, coordinating, and facilitating a comprehensive WIL program for students in Grades 10 to 12. A keen interest in supporting young individuals in their career and personal growth, including fostering self-discovery and assisting them in achieving their aspirations, is crucial. In addition to organizing Career Education Courses for Grades 10 and 11, the Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and managing a new work-integrated learning internship initiative. This program will connect students with industry professionals to enhance their professional skills, explore diverse career paths, and integrate classroom learning with real-world experiences. Ultimately, students will showcase their learning journey through a capstone project. The Coordinator should be well-versed in the learning styles of girls and the skills needed for success in today's society. Serving in the capacity of Teacher Advisor, this role also provides opportunities to engage in various academic activities within the Senior School. The successful candidate will oversee the WIL and Career Life Education (CLE) programs and must hold a British Columbia teaching certification.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education
- British Columbia Teaching Certification or equivalent
- Experience in secondary education (preferably five years)
- Coursework in Career Education or related fields is advantageous
- Experience in independent schools is a plus
- Strong networking abilities to create community partnerships
- Background in coaching and/or extracurricular involvement is beneficial

Responsibilities
- Organizing and Facilitating Career Education
- Collaborate with university academic counselors and Senior School vice principals to design and coordinate the WIL/CLE/CLC program's scope and sequence for grades 10-12
- Create and deliver WIL/CLC program content in collaboration with other educators
- Support the integration of WIL/CLC courses and capstone projects
- Assist students in their learning through debriefing, feedback, and structured reflection
- Develop, coordinate, and implement WIL policies and procedures
- Arrange guest speakers, parent and alumna panels, and other career exploration activities

- Work with Partner Organizations:
- Identify, reach out to, and support potential partner organizations to build relationships and secure placements
- Provide partners with relevant information regarding student needs (e.g., medical or behavioral) with student/family consent to ensure appropriate support
- Assist partners in formulating accommodation plans for students when necessary (e.g., due to an IEP)
- Coordinate additional WIL staff monitoring visits
- Communicate and collaborate with all YHS stakeholders involved in placements, including students, parents/guardians, faculty/staff, and alumni

- Develop and Perform Risk Analysis:
- Conduct site visits to partner organizations
- Perform risk assessments to ensure partners are effectively managing risks and prioritizing student safety
- Create and implement student preparation plans for risk management and outline relevant procedures for students to follow
- Establish networks with potential mentors and develop a catalog of those and community connections
- Promptly address or terminate a placement if any health, safety, or welfare concerns arise (reported by the student, monitoring staff, or other parties)

- Create the Capstone Program
- Collaborate with Grade 11 students to support capstone and WIL projects
- Plan and execute a public exhibition for students to present their capstone projects
- Document and prepare an annual report outlining the year’s successes and challenges

Other Responsibilities
- Serve as Teacher Advisor
- Participate in the development and implementation of an Internship/Mentorship program
- Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the strategic plan
- Engage in other academic-related administrative tasks as needed
- Participate in co-curricular and school life activities
- May be required to cover classes as necessary
- Attend various key school events related to the Senior School
