We are dedicated to fostering your professional development. Our coaching initiative is designed to enhance the social and professional capital of our educators, promoting relationships built on trust, reflection, self-directed goals, and collaboration. This approach strengthens collegiality, resilience, and cohesion within our school community.
Our students and educators share a mutual enthusiasm for learning, benefiting from the enriching experiences we provide. Charlotte Moore, Head of Upper School, expresses her perspective:
“As a family, we are thrilled to have transitioned to Alice Smith and to be part of the vibrant Kuala Lumpur community. We extend our gratitude to everyone at Alice Smith who facilitated our move from the Middle East to Southeast Asia, via the UK. People often inquire about our decision to relocate globally to Kuala Lumpur. The answer is straightforward: the ethos at Alice Smith aligns perfectly with what I desire for my children and the students I teach. Ensuring each child has the best possible experience and encouraging them to make the most of each day holds immense significance. This applies not only in the classroom but through experiences that foster character development and relationships grounded in mutual respect and trust while celebrating diversity. Just as I don’t believe in a single winner, I also reject the idea of an academic hierarchy where some subjects are deemed superior. Alice Smith empowers students to pursue equal opportunities with enthusiasm, pride, and an open mind. I eagerly anticipate this new chapter.”
The Alice Smith School is a founding member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and holds accreditation from the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).
Recognized as a British School Overseas (BSO), we received an Excellent rating during inspections in 2011 and 2014, and in March 2019, we were awarded an Outstanding report from COBIS regarding our Patron’s Accreditation and Compliance. In June 2024, we achieved two prestigious COBIS Beacon Status Awards for Ethos & Values (Standard 5B) and Student Leadership in the School (Standard 8D), affirming our status as a Beacon School that exemplifies excellence in COBIS standards and contributes to best practices globally.
Education is provided across two campuses, Primary and Secondary, situated about 20 minutes apart, each equipped with excellent resources and facilities. We embrace an innovative approach to digital technology and digital wellbeing, operating as a Google Workspace for Education school, utilizing Google Sites and Google Classroom across both Windows and Mac platforms to tailor learning experiences for our students.
Our commitment to excellence is reinforced by a robust culture of professional learning, where staff benefit from consistent, high-quality training, collaborative planning, and opportunities to connect with regional and international networks such as FOBISIA and COBIS.
Our school motto, Sic itur ad astra – In this way you shall reach the stars, encapsulates our mission: to inspire every student to aim high, grow through challenges, and realize their full potential. The stars symbolize aspirations, excellence, discovery, and a promising future, reminding everyone that there is a deliberate and courageous path (“in this way”) to achieve those goals.
