Founded over 1,400 years ago in the 6th century, The King’s School, Canterbury is recognized as one of the oldest continuously operating educational institutions in England and Europe. Initially linked to Canterbury Cathedral, the school remains housed within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was re-established by King Henry VIII in 1541 and formally adopted the name 'The King’s School.' In 1946, it was granted a new Royal Charter by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The renowned ‘King’s Week’ festival, which celebrates music and drama at the conclusion of the summer term, was initiated in 1952 and has grown into a beloved annual event. To adapt to contemporary educational needs, the school inaugurated its International College in 2018 and began the first phase of its Shenzhen campus in 2019. The King’s School Canterbury boasts an esteemed reputation and remarkable academic achievements, consistently earning an ‘outstanding’ rating in independent evaluations. Almost 99% of graduating students each year gain admission to prestigious universities across the globe. Nestled against the scenic backdrop of Da NanShan (Nanshan Mountain), our Pre-Prep campus features ample outdoor areas and well-equipped classrooms. Among its facilities are an excellent library, art maker-space, mindfulness room, spacious music hall, and indoor play zones. Adhering to the UK’s EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum, our bilingual education model ensures each class is led by two teachers—one international and one Chinese—along with dedicated teaching assistants. Our main campus, which opened in Autumn 2022, is located just 4 kilometers from the Pre-Prep campus and is designed specifically for the Prep School (Grades 1-7, UK Years 2-8) and Senior School (Grades 8-12, UK Years 9-13). Showcasing state-of-the-art facilities, it includes modern classrooms, specialized laboratories, open learning areas, indoor and outdoor breakout spaces, social hubs, athletic facilities, and a dynamic boarding community.
