Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 ākonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised learning programmes from early childhood to NCEA Level 3.

Are you an enthusiastic and caring teacher who loves inspiring learners and building strong connections?

We're looking for a kaiako with primary teaching experience to join our Northern region team, based in our Auckland tari (office). Please note: this role includes mandatory office days at our Queen Street location.

Kaiako at Te Kura engage with our ākonga  online and face-to-face at huinga ako (advisories) and events, and also work onsite with colleagues in our regional offices. Te Kura aims to provide flexible working arrangements, so kaiako are able to request to work from home for up to two days per week. 

Ko koe tēnei | About you

  • New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate
  • Experience teaching within the primary years (years 1–8) and a solid understanding of the NZ Curriculum
  • A warm, inclusive approach to teaching and supporting ākonga
  • Confidence using digital tools to connect and engage learners
  • Show curiosity and openness to learning te reo Māori and growing your bicultural practice
  • A collaborative spirit, a positive outlook, and genuine enthusiasm for teaching and learning
