Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
• A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not expected to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education are highly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
• Proficiency in Inuktitut (both oral and written)
• Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
• Teaching experience in a bilingual or ESL environment
• Background in cross-cultural or northern Canadian teaching contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
• Understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
• Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
• Experience using contemporary assessment methods to guide learning
• Ability to create a supportive learning environment using effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
• Proven ability to establish respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members
• Commitment to fostering student wellbeing and engagement
• Active participation with students outside the classroom when appropriate

• Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and support for students

Compensation and Benefits
• Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
• Nunavut Northern Allowance for Kinngait, Nunavut: $20,980
• Subsidized Housing: Available, although sharing may be required.

Conditions of Employment
• Current Government of Nunavut employees must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
• Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a valid public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction. Applications without this documentation will not be considered.
