Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo)

We are looking for an experienced practitioner to coordinator SEND provision across two of our primary schools.

The role will be based at Belleville Wix Academy(Clapham) three days a week, and New King's Road School (Fulham/Parson's Green) two days a week.

The SENDCo will coordinate the identification, assessment and support of pupils with SEND by:

• Working with teachers, families and specialists to identify emerging or existing SEND and ensure appropriate support is in place.
• Supporting staff to develop practice and to adapt teaching and the curriculum to meet individual needs in mainstream classes.
• Coordinating and monitoring individual support plans ensuring appropriate targets, interventions and reasonable adjustments.
• Coordinating EHCP applications, reviews and provision.
• Building positive partnerships with families, ensuring they are involved in decisions about their child's needs and provision .
• Liaising with external educational and health professionals, where additional expertise is required
• Maintaining accurate records and reporting on these when needed.
• Promoting inclusion and compliance by championing an inclusive culture where pupils with SEND can participate fully.
• Ensuring the schools meet their statutory duties under the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.

The successful applicant will:

• be passionate about education and willing to ‘do whatever it takes’
• hold Qualified Teacher status (QTS) and have a proven track record of successful primary teaching
• hold NASENCO or NPQ for SENCo, or be willing to complete the NPQ within 3 years
• have a good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the DfE's new inclusion guidance
