Te Karaka Area School is looking for a passionate English teacher to join our team in a permanent, full-time role teaching Years 9–13.
Our kura sits in the heart of Te Karaka, just outside Tūranganui-a-Kiwa (Gisborne), and is proud of the strong sense of whanaungatanga and community that runs through our school. As a small rural kura, relationships matter here - our staff know their students well and work closely with whānau to support our rangatahi to succeed.
We’re looking for a kaiako who can inspire a love of literature, language, and storytelling, while supporting students to achieve success in NCEA Levels 1–3.
About the role
You will:
Teach English across Years 9-13
Deliver engaging programmes aligned with The New Zealand Curriculum
Support students working towards NCEA
Build positive relationships with ākonga, whānau and colleagues
Contribute to the wider life of the kura
We’d love someone who:
Is an NZ-registered teacher
Has good knowledge of secondary English and NCEA
Is passionate about supporting literacy and student achievement
Demonstrates a commitment to our kura values of angitu (success), whanaungatanga (relationships), rangatiratanga (leadership), manaakitanga (support), and whakaute (respect)
